Cymbals Competition

Rules

1.  You must not know how to play the cymbals before the competition

2.  You must learn how to play the cymbals on the follow hymns (parts of hymns):

a.  Khen Efran

b.  Through the pleadings

c.   A third hymn of your own choosing

3.  During the recital (performance), you will be asked to play the cymbals for each of the 3 hymns mentioned in point #2. Judges will cut you off once they’ve heard a part of the hymn

4.  You do not need to learn the hymns off by heart. A recording of the hymns will be played for you to play the cymbals along with them. For the third hymn, you may sing it yourself or bring it on a USB to play on the computer

5.  Judges will mark you on:

a.  How accurately and consistently your play of the cymbals matches the rhythm (timing)

b.  How well you can start and stop during a hymn

c.   Whether you can play and sing at the same time

d.  Whether you can vary the cymbals play style to match the hymn (especially your chose third hymn)

6.  Competition Day:

a.  GILRS: Sunday 29 January 2023 (after Sunday school)

b.  BOYS: Sunday 5 February 2023 (after Sunday school)

c.   Location to be anounced
