Elevate Your Outdoor Space: Cedar Outdoor End Table Plans
Transform your outdoor living area into a cozy, inviting sanctuary with a DIY cedar outdoor end table. Not only does cedar wood offer natural resistance to rot and pests, but it also imparts a warm, rustic charm that blends seamlessly with nature. In this comprehensive guide, we'll walk you through step-by-step cedar outdoor end table plans that are perfect for both beginners and experienced woodworkers.
Why Choose Cedar for Outdoor Furniture?
Cedar is an excellent choice for outdoor furniture due to its inherent durability and low maintenance. Here's why:
- Natural Resistance: Cedar contains natural oils that make it resistant to rot, decay, and insect damage.
- Weatherproof: Cedar's tight grain and natural oils help it withstand the elements, making it ideal for outdoor use.
- Low Maintenance: Unlike other woods, cedar doesn't require frequent staining or sealing. A simple annual cleaning is usually sufficient.
- Attractive Aesthetic: Cedar's rich, warm color and subtle aroma add a touch of elegance to any outdoor space.

Step 1: Cut List
Before you start cutting, make sure you have the following pieces:
- 4 - 1x6 @ 18" (Legs)
- 2 - 1x4 @ 16" (Aprons)
- 2 - 1x4 @ 14" (Stretcher)
- 1 - 1x6 @ 18" (Tabletop)
Step 2: Assemble the Legs
Attach the aprons to the legs using pocket hole screws. Apply wood glue to the joints for added strength. Ensure the legs are square and the tabletop will sit flush.
Step 3: Add the Stretcher
Attach the stretcher to the inside of the legs using pocket hole screws. This will provide additional support and stability to your table.

Step 4: Attach the Tabletop
Center the tabletop on the legs and aprons. Use finishing nails or pocket hole screws to attach it from the underside. Ensure the tabletop is flush with the top of the legs.
Step 5: Sand and Finish
Sand the table thoroughly with 120-grit sandpaper, then follow up with 220-grit for a smooth finish. Allow the table to weather naturally or apply a clear sealant to protect it from the elements.
Step 6: Enjoy!
Place your new cedar outdoor end table in your favorite spot, add a lamp, and enjoy your cozy outdoor sanctuary. Don't forget to share your creation with us on social media!
