Understanding Creative Commons Licenses
Before we dive into the image sources, it's essential to understand Creative Commons licenses. These licenses allow creators to communicate which rights they reserve and which rights they waive for the benefit of recipients or other creators. The most common licenses are:
- Attribution (CC BY): You must give appropriate credit, provide a link to the license, and indicate if changes were made. You may do so in any reasonable manner, but not in any way that suggests the licensor endorses you or your use.
- Attribution-ShareAlike (CC BY-SA): You must give appropriate credit, provide a link to the license, and indicate if changes were made. You may distribute, remix, tweak, and build upon the work, even for commercial purposes, as long as you credit the creator for the original creation and license your new creation under the identical terms.
- Attribution-NoDerivs (CC BY-ND): You must give appropriate credit, provide a link to the license, and indicate if changes were made. You may distribute the work and perform it publicly for any purpose, but you cannot create derivative works without permission.
