Imagine you're in a small town called Bethany, near Jerusalem. You're with your friends Martha and Mary, and their beloved brother, Lazarus, is very sick. You've heard stories about a man named Jesus who can perform amazing miracles. So, you send a message to Jesus, hoping he can help Lazarus.
Jesus Arrives in Bethany
Four days after Lazarus passes away, Jesus arrives in Bethany. Martha goes to meet him, saying, "Lord, if you had been here, my brother would not have died." Jesus reassures her, "Your brother will rise again." Martha thinks Jesus means Lazarus will rise on the last day, but Jesus tells her, "I am the resurrection and the life. The one who believes in me will live, even though they die; and whoever lives by believing in me will never die. Do you believe this?" Martha answers, "Yes, Lord, I believe that you are the Messiah, the Son of God, who is to come into the world."
Jesus Meets Mary
Mary, hearing that Jesus is asking for her, comes to him, weeping. She falls at his feet and says, "Lord, if you had been here, my brother would not have died." Seeing her tears and those of the people around her, Jesus is deeply moved. He asks where Lazarus is buried and tells the people, "Take away the stone." The people object, saying, "But, Lord, he has been dead for four days!"

Jesus Raises Lazarus
Jesus prays to God, thanking him for listening. Then, he shouts, "Lazarus, come out!" And to everyone's amazement, Lazarus walks out of the tomb, still wrapped in grave clothes! The people are filled with awe and believe in Jesus because of what they've seen.
Lazarus is Unbound
Many of the Jews who were with Mary and saw what Jesus did believed in him. But some of them went to the Pharisees and told them what Jesus had done. The chief priests and the Pharisees then plotted to kill Lazarus too, because on his account many of the Jews were going over to Jesus and believing in him.
Jesus and his disciples went back to the wilderness, where they stayed together. Many people came to them from Jerusalem, Judea, and the distant parts of Idumea, bringing their sick people to Jesus, and he healed them all. The news about Jesus spread even further, and great crowds followed him because they had heard about the miraculous signs he had performed.

Jesus raised Lazarus from the dead, showing us that he has power over life and death. This miracle helped many people believe that Jesus is the Son of God. Even though Lazarus died again later, his resurrection gave hope to many that they too could live again after death, thanks to Jesus.
