Noah Ark Locations

The ark can be viewed as public art, shelter, protest art, vernacular architecture, and what scholars have started calling "artist environments." Whatever you want to conceptualize it as, it was a totally unique part of this city's complex, extraordinary cultural history. Noah's Ark (1846), by the American folk painter Edward Hicks Noah's Ark (Hebrew: תיבת נח; Biblical Hebrew: Tevat Noaḥ) [Notes 1] is the boat in the Genesis flood narrative through which God spares Noah, his family, and one pair of every animal species in the world from a global deluge. A recent documentary, Kea's Ark (2021), by Susan Wallner, was funded in part by the New Jersey Council for the Humanities, which included the documentary as part of a virtual summer film festival. It first aired on New Jersey Public Broadcasting and is now distributed by American Public Television and PBSDigital. "This is about more than just religion," the team explains. For more than a century, people have sought the precise location of Noah's Ark. Archaeologists say it's a fool's errand.

Noah's Ark, central to Abrahamic traditions, is said to have sheltered humanity and wildlife during a catastrophic deluge. The Durupinar Formation's unique characteristics and marine evidence continue to fuel debates about its role in ancient history. Noah's ark is one of the most iconic structures in the Bible.

It was 450 feet long (137.6 m), 75 feet wide (22.86 m), and 45 feet high (13.71 m). God commanded Noah to build an ark to save him, his family, and thousands of animals from the floodwaters he would send upon the earth. Noah's ark was a massive ship, built at God's command, that saved Noah, his family, and representatives of every kind of land-dependent, air-breathing animal from the global flood that took place over 4,300 years ago.
