Wood Floor Stain Reddit

Would like to second the just use finish instead of stain. I'm a hardwood flooring installer, and I love the natural look of just using finish. In the end it's what the rest of the room/house will look like, most importantly what you the home owner like.

Refinishing hardwood floors. To stain, or not to stain? That is the question. So I have about 1100-1200 sq ft of floors to sand and finish.

The 'trend' is to go dark, but I don't care about the trend. I like me some honey blonde/really light color flooring. It opens the house up, lets in more light, etc.

First time doing oil based stain on hardwood floor, red mahogany on white oak. It is looking much splotchier than I would've expected when I had it freshly sanded down. Do I just need another coat of stain? Is my staining technique wrong in any obvious way?

We're considering espresso, but I think maybe it'll make the home look dated. What floor colors are in right now for hardwood flooring? (Ideally something that won't look dated as far as the "gray" look did.). If you're sure it's wood that can be stained I'd stain it somewhere between it's current colour and the trim.

I think the trim colour is too dark for flooring and will highlight every speck of crumb or dust. Just be sure what kind of flooring it is first, your home looks so modern I'd be suspicious it's some sort of manufactured flooring. Third pic is my bathroom which I think is important to include because it transitions into this and right now i think my floor and this modern looking bathroom contrast too much Lastly are Stain colors to choose from.
