Tiny homes will be part of two new villages to house homeless individuals in Seattle, Mayor Bruce Harrell announced in a news release on Wednesday.

Operates a village of tiny houses at two locations for homeless single men, women, couples and families. Hygiene trailer on site with three bathrooms with shower. Washer and dryer.

Provides a Kitchen tent with hot and cold running water, refrigerator, freezer, and microwave. Participation in operating the village is required. Optional case management provided to residents focused on housing.

In Greater Seattle, there are now 21 tiny home villages with about 750 tiny homes. Besides food, shelter, and showers, village residents also have access to services like counseling, job placement, education, and substance treatment options. This week, LIHI opened its new Henderson Village, a tiny house site in Seattle's Rainier Valley.

"Tiny houses save lives," said Sharon Lee, executive director of LIHI. South Henderson Street is the new home to the tiny house village and the individuals, couples and families who will live there. The village specifically serves Native American, Alaskan Native and African American residents.

The City of Seattle has a department in their City of Seattle Human Services Department (HSD) tasked with tiny home villages.
