The roadster is the same as the M3. Z4M is almost 100kg lighter than the M3. Before buying my M3 I had for a month the Z4 M Coupe of a friend.
One of the best BMW for me but I wouldn***8217;t compare it with my M3 for many reason***8217;s. I always tell people that the best E46 M3 is E86 Z4MC because of just how raw it is even compared to E46 M3. I also like the fact that BMW used ZF transmission vs Getrag in Z4M.
Z4 M Coupe vs E46 M3 FWIW, I've driven the car a few times but it's only been on smooth surfaces and it's never been long enough to really get a feel for some of the above questions. As an alternate, I'm looking into some e46 M3 ZCP's but it's tough to find a low mileage 6spd example at this point. I used to own an e46 and would love to get into one again but as I stated earlier, it's tough to.
The heart of the Z4 M Coupé is the same 343bhp 3.2 litre straight-six M motor shared with the M3 as well as its roofless Z4 M Roadster sister. At 1,495kg, the Z4 M Coupé is a whopping 75kg lighter than the M3. BMW M3 E46 Kompressor takes on the BMW Z4 M Coupe in a thrilling 1/4 mile drag race! Witness the incredible acceleration, powerful engine sounds, and intense head.
Why the Z4 3.0si? For $35k, you can land an early Z4 M Coupe - someone on another forum just snagged one for mid-30s. Both the M3 and Z4 would be drivable in winter with snow tires - they're only real issue is grond clearnance. THe M Coupe is more nimble and lighter.
It is also faster than the M3 I prefer the m3 though as I can fit my belly behind the steering wheel whereas I cannot in my z4 M. There isn`t a lot in it at low speeds Baris ~1s 0-100. I raced 2 from a roll in Belgium and it`s not untill the very top of 3rd (100mph) I started to pull slowly away, by the top of 4th `tho (135-140mph) it was a good few car lengths and mine is completely stock but slightly lighter being a convertible.
