E92 M3 Vs F87 M2

I'd recommend giving the F87 M2C a whirl. I have one in DCT. IMHO (and not just mine), it's one of the best cars that BMW's made in the last in the last 10 years.

When you drive it, it brings back the emotions that E36/E46 M3s do. Pure, unadulterated driving fun. It has more than enough power, and is exciting, direct and a pleasure to drive.

The interior is clean. I owned an F87 M2C along side my E92 M3 for about 7 months last year but found I still enjoyed driving the E92 more it was just more fun so I sold the F87 and bought a Boxster GTS 4.0 which is superb. Previous was an E92 M3, don't rule out the F80.

I find the M2 looks challenging, not a lot of difference in weight between the two but does seem to be the go to choice for a lot of trackday people. If you have roughly $50k to spend on a 2+2 BMW M car, should you go for an F87 M2 Competition or an older E92 M3 with budget left over for mods?
