(Current mileage is 279k). I have the serial number for the rebuilt engine. Is there any way to use the serial number to determine the VIN of its original vehicle, or any other information about the history/origin of the engine? Thanks.

Hi, Have a 2F engine with the following serial number. 2F877607 stamped on the block by the starter but no vehicle VIN. Anyone have any idea on how to tie this to a production year and vehicle? Toyota parts dealerships have no idea? Can only work with VIN.

Thanks! Randy. Block part number is 11411-60030. Block date is 1 06 09.

The 60030 tells us it is a later F engine (60010 is first version of F, 61010 is first 2F). Date is year ending in 1, month 06=June, day=9th. Year is after 1960's, but before 1981, so 1971 June 9th.

The engine 2UZ code decipher is here: List of Toyota engines - Wikipedia But it doesn't identify VVT vs non. @jerryb your picture indicates first number (1) is the plant code. I've yet to see Toyota plant numbering system/codes anywhere.
