Impeachment: Fubara politically safe in APC, says Jandor
The founder of the Lagos4Lagos movement, Abdul-Azeez Adediran, also known as Jandor, says Rivers Governor Siminalayi Fubara remains politically safe within the APC despite renewed impeachment threats.
The Rivers House of Assembly on Thursday initiated fresh impeachment proceedings against Mr Fubara and his deputy, Ngozi Odu, over allegations of misconduct.
The impeachment threats are linked to the lingering political crisis between Mr Fubara and his predecessor, Minister of the Federal Capital Territory Nyesom Wike.
Mr Adediran, the 2023 Lagos governorship candidate of the PDP in Lagos, spoke after participating in the APC’s e-registration exercise at Ward G, Irewe, Ojo Local Government.
He expressed confidence that President Bola Tinubu’s leadership would restore order and prevent political instability in Rivers.
According to him, unlike the PDP, the APC has strong leadership and a clear dispute-resolution structure anchored by Mr Tinubu.
“When impeachment first came up under the PDP, I feared for him because that party lacks leadership and a clear structure.
“But now it is impeachment 2.0 in APC, with APC lawmakers; I have no fear at all.
“APC is not PDP. It has party supremacy and a clear leadership structure. We know where the buck stops,” Mr Adediran said.
He said he believed Mr Tinubu would “call everybody to order” and ensure the crisis was resolved peacefully.
Mr Adediran disclosed that the president had already summoned Messrs Fubara and Wike over the matter.
He urged Rivers residents and APC members to remain calm, expressing confidence that the party’s leadership would guarantee peace and political stability.
