The lagoon itself is gorgeous and has various baths, 2 hot plunges, one massive and one smaller but higher up for great pictures for the view of the snowy mountains and ocean. A sauna with an amazing view and a cold plunge of 12°. Brrrrrrrr The best time in my opinion to go is 10-11am if you want to get the sunrise and it not be busy at all! Iceland is well known for its geothermal activity and many hot springs, so much so that people have even made a pastime of it in the form of dipping and relaxing in natural geothermal hot pools.

Forest Lagoon is just what its name implies, a spa lagoon in a forest setting and I think is a first for Iceland, which is not exactly known for its forests! The baths are nestled amidst the woodland of Vaðlaskógur, just minutes away from the heart of Akureyri. A trip to Iceland wouldn't be complete without visiting a hot spring or an outdoor hot tub. During my stay in the north of Iceland, I discovered several geothermal baths, including the unique Forest Lagoon (Skógarböðin) in Akureyri.
What makes this spa special? It's located right in the middle of a forest. With 2 infinity pools overlooking one of Iceland's longest fjords, it's a great spot to recharge your batteries during your Icelandic adventures. But what really makes the Forest Lagoon unique? Forest Lagoon is a 1.300 square-meter complex includes a bistro, two infinity pools with two swim-up bars, a cold tub, and a sauna. The facility can accommodate up to 200 visitors at a time, and we will be open seven days a week from 10:00 in the morning until 24:00 in the evening. In June, July and August, the baths will be open from 9 am.
