So I played around with it some more today, and found out the side speakers are not working at all, and that is were the static-buzzing noise is coming from. Only the center channel and subs are working on my H-K system. Just heard back from a BMW dealer tech friend who said it is probably a receiver audio module (RAM), or possibly an amp.
Add me to the list of having experienced the static buzzing noise coming from the speakers. Have had my 2011 328 xDrive since the end of March 2011 and in that time, this has happened twice. I have HK system in my car and when everything is off (radio/ventilation etc) i can hear buzzing\static sound coming from my centre speaker.

Same issue. The sound had now moved from the dash speaker, to the right door speaker. I tried playing with all of the sound settings and nothing fixed it (the HK system sucks BTW).
The sound happens during phone calls as well and doesn't change with the volume. I then tried pressing the M Sound button and boom.
