Toyota is ending its BMW partnership for the next Supra. The 2027 model will feature a Toyota. It was true, BMW, the German luxury brand, would be providing the engine for the GR Supra as part of a collaborative effort with Toyota.
Toyota will exit its BMW partnership to build the next-generation Supra, a car expected to get a 2.0. While the 8-speed automatic was standard from launch, Toyota later introduced a 6-speed manual transmission, based on BMW's manual but reengineered to improve shift feel and mechanical engagement. The B58 remains the heart of the powertrain, combining with Supra.
