History and Establishment

The Tadoba National Park, as it was originally known, was established in 1955. It was later renamed as 'Tadoba Andhari Tiger Reserve' in 1995, reflecting its status as a tiger reserve under Project Tiger, a conservation initiative launched by the Indian government. The reserve is named after the God 'Tadoba', worshipped by the local tribal people, and the 'Andhari' river that flows through it.
