Bmw 700 E38
The BMW E38 is the third generation of the BMW 7 Series luxury cars and was produced from 1994 until 2001. The E38 replaced the E32 7 Series and was produced with petrol and turbo-diesel straight-six and V8 engines, along with a petrol V12 flagship model. There are 13 BMW 7 Series.
The last E38 rolled off the BMW production line on 27 July 2001, making way for the new, visually very controversial 7 Series E65. The car BMW 7 series E38 was executed in several variants: BMW E38 730d, 725tdi,, 730i, 735i, 740i, 740iL, 750iL, 740iL Protection and 750iL Protection. These modifications differed by installed power units and equipment.
The E38 generation was the last BMW 7. The BMW E38 was also the first car from a European manufacturer to be offered with a navigation system ex works. The third generation of the BMW 7 Series E38 series was built from 1994 to July 2001 at the BMW Dingolfing plant, 327,598 units.
The successor models were E65, E66, E67 and E68. The third generation of BMW's executive saloon - codenamed the E38 - was launched in 1994. Power came from a selection of straight-six, V8 and V12 engines.
Inside it was pure luxury and packed with kit (as you'd expect from a car in this price bracket). Safety features included traction control, self-levelling xenon headlights, and side airbags. There was also electric damper.
The BMW E38 7-Series are excellent cars and excellent value at the time of writing (2008 and updated in 2009). Nearly all the E38's fall outside the proposed increase in Road Tax which affects cars built after March 2001. All hail the BMW E38.
The BMW E38 was the crescendo of the 7 Series line. Before it, BMW created the E23 and the E32, and with them they took a great idea and refined, tweaked, teased and evolved it into the E38 version. While the car may have landed in showrooms in the mid '90s, development actually began back in '88.
