Use a strain gauge to measure a deflection, and then calibrate it so that voltage produced accurately measures the deflection, then work backwards through the deflection equation to find the force Isn't that about it? A previous time I set about trying to lose weight (and succeeded) I bought digital scales to weigh myself (they were the Weightwatchers scales were selling in 2012). There is only one room in our house that has a hard, flat surface and that is the tiled kitchen. But also there are only 2 places in the kitchen where the scales can be placed without rocking.
So I tend to favour the one spot over.
