Bmw M10 Getrag 240
This BMW M10 inline. Hello, I have a complete five speed swap for sale in Los Angeles ca. it is a getrag 240 from an early model 318i m10.
The whole set up will come with manual pedal box, five speed transmission, drive shaft, trans brace and center support bracket, short shifter, plus welded diff if you want it. the G240 is a lightweight, compact 5speed that BMW introduced in 1983 on the 83 E21/M10 as a replacement for the G245. it was used through out the E30's if equipped with four cylinder M10's and M42's.
introduction of the E36 saw the G240 replaced with the G250. the difference between the E21's and the E30 M10's was the mechanical speedometer output. the difference between the M10 and M42's is.

The getrag 240 on my tranny does not have the upper butterfly brackets so Ill be keeping the older style shifter plate mechanism but want to tighten. I can confirm that the m10 getrag 240 is not the same as the later year m42 getrag 240. The early model shifter uses a stamped sheet metal upper selector rod and the later uses and cast aluminum, they mount to the body and transmission differently.

This transmission came from a 1984 or 1985 318i with the venerable M10B18 engine but can be used in your 2002 or your E21 for a cost effective 5 Speed Manual conversion.
It does NOT have the. I'm trying to figure out what year 318 this getrag is from? The number on the transmission is 240.0490.90. Also trying to figure out how I can tell if it has a mechanical speedo input.
