We installed black Delta trinsic fixtures in three bathrooms in 2018 and they still look brand new, including the bathroom out you children use (ages 3 and 6 currently). It seems like half of the bathroom/kitchen fixtures I install now are matte black. Is this trend happening by you as well? I did white tile with white grout, white tub, white vanity, gray floors and black tub/shower valve trim, black faucet, and black washer and dryer in my second bath and everyone loves it. Our expensive Moen bath faucet has held up wonderfully over the past couple years. The cheap sink faucets and tub drain stop chipped away after the first year to reveal a not so pleasant finish.
My experience with a friend owning black fittings in a zone with notoriously hard water: calcium and other mineral stains are a daily struggle. It was something I'd never thought of before, but their fittings are always stained with white mineral deposits. Black or chrome faucet? The issue of finding replacements might be worth considering just because these things come and go out of style, but honestly, that's going to be the case with entire lines. There's no guarantee a chrome Speakman or Kohler faucet of any look will still be carried in 15 years. I don't believe a black faucet would.

I have white one piece vanity tops for both bathrooms. I was thinking of going with black or oil rubbed bronze fixtures for both. But in reading the reviews, a lot of people complain black fixtures are hard to keep clean.
Her bathroom will be very light colors. She said she wants matte black faucets, shower head, shower door handle, etc. Her color scheme is pretty, but since it's so light (white, grey, some soft green, a little bit of light wood, etc.) to me, it seems like too much contrast to have the black fixtures for what should be a relaxing space.
