If you can, I'd make the coffee table a side table and put it in the left corner in between couches if they aren't connected. Otherwise, would place on right corner and get a coffee table that fits. Get some side tables instead, at least on the far ends (outside corners), and put a round coffee table between the two couches, a little more towards the inner corners by the tree.

The one i have now is about 17 inches high, the same height as the seat of my couch. If there are things on the coffee table, it doesn't obstruct the view of the rest of the room, even from a reclining position, in case some one, after a busy day, might want to lounge.
