Reddit Attic Bedroom

I have an attic bedroom. The summer will be very hot, depending on where you live climate wise. My bedroom is often ~85°F.

I have gotten used to it and honestly I kind of enjoy it. Just make sure to drink lots of water and find some very lightweight sheets or get used to sleeping naked without blankets lol. Reply reply more reply More replies.

My attic is about the same size as yours, but with two separate dormers on one side instead. The joists were already 2x8, so no structural modifications were required. I added a full bath, bedroom, some closets and a small office alcove as well as separate heat/AC.

Also did closed cell spray foam insulation which negates the need for roof. The attic likely needs more insulation in addition to any sealing you can perform. If there are floorboards in the attic above the room that means there is probably not much insulation, which can only be remedied by pulling the floor boards and adding more.
