Literally bought this game today and so far it's fantastic, but, like many RPGs, items have a different colour background showing their rarity. I've only seen a blue and orange background so far so can someone enlighten me to say how many colours there are and their order of rarity please? If it's not rarity and it means something else, please correct me lol. Thanks in advance! The Witcher is a critically acclaimed fantasy book series created by Andrzej Sapkowski.
The series follows Geralt of Rivia, a monster hunter in a universe where people often prove more wicked than beasts. Though originally written in Polish, the franchise gathered a large international following from likewise acclaimed game adaptions by CD Projekt. The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt (PlayStation 4) What exactly do the background colors of item icons mean? Every item in the Witcher 3 has a background color on its icon, counting "no color" as one of them.
On the Internet, many say that these colors are nothing but classifications on rarity/value, whatever these two terms mean exactly. Weapon Rarity As with most items and equipment in The Witcher 3, Weapons come with varying Rarity - a stat which is denoted by a classification and color coding. In ascending order, the Rarity levels for weapons are as follows.
There is rarity color coding. No color for common, blue for uncommon, yellow for magic, and brownish orange for relic. These are essetially rarity tiers.
And then there's green for witcher gear as well. For The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt on the PlayStation 4, a GameFAQs message board topic titled "Newbie here with a quick questions about item rarity.". The stars is the "level" of the item.
2 stars means it's on par with your level, less means lower, more means higher. The colors are the "qualities/rarity" of the items. It goes, from worst to best, Red->White->Gold->Purple->Green.
[PSA] Some notes on loot mechanics There are four levels of item rarity. Common items have no background colour, Master items have a Blue background colour, Magic items have a Yellow background colour, and Relic items have a Gold background colour. I have an armor that had 3 slot rune, but category common (no color).
But I also acquire a relic armor (yellow) that had no slot at all, and a Magic armor (yellow) who only had 1 rune slot. I have 2 same armor and both level are same. 1st armor are common had a better defense value than the 2nd armor who are master/blue color.
Mastercrafted witcher gear (green) is the best. So at some points, brown will be better if it's a higher level than your witcher gear, but when you get the master crafted gear, it's always going to be better.
