Installing the Filterbaby is a straightforward process designed to integrate seamlessly into your existing sink setup, providing immediate access to cleaner, better-tasting water. This guide will walk you through each step of the installation, ensuring you can enjoy the benefits of advanced filtration without professional assistance. With the right tools and a little patience, you will have purified water flowing in under an hour.

Preparing for Your Installation

Before turning off your water, it is essential to gather all the necessary components and tools to avoid any interruptions. A typical Filterbaby kit includes the filter cartridge, various adapters, a mounting bracket, and the diverter valve system. You will also need a few common household tools, such as an adjustable wrench, a pair of pliers, and a small screwdriver. Having everything laid out on your counter before beginning will make the process smooth and efficient.
Shutting Off Water and Disconnecting Faucet

The first critical step is to stop the water flow to your sink. Locate the hot and cold water valves under the sink and turn them clockwise until they are fully closed. To ensure no residual water remains, turn on the faucet handle at the sink until the water drains completely. You will then need to disconnect the water supply line from the faucet itself; have a towel ready to catch any drips. Once the water lines are detached, you can set the existing faucet aside to provide room to work on the Filterbaby diverter.
Attaching the Diverter System

The Filterbaby diverter valve is the interface that allows you to switch between filtered and unfiltered water. You will install this valve onto the cold water line coming from your wall. Using an adjustable wrench, securely attach the diverter valve to the shut-off valve, ensuring the connection is tight to prevent future leaks. The diverter features a simple lever that allows you to divert water through the filter system or bypass it entirely, giving you control over when you use purified water.
Connecting the Filtered Water Line
With the diverter in place, the next step is routing the filtered water to your faucet. Connect one end of the braided stainless steel tubing to the outlet port on the Filterbaby diverter valve. The other end of this tube will attach to the dedicated cold water line that feeds your faucet. It is important to ensure the tubing is not kinked or twisted, as this can reduce water pressure and flow rate. Secure all connections with the provided hardware, tightening them firmly by hand and then giving them an additional quarter turn with a wrench for security.

Installing the Filter Cartridge
Before you finalize the system, you must insert the Filterbaby cartridge into the filtration housing. Remove the protective cap from the new cartridge and rinse it under running water to eliminate any loose carbon dust. Slide the cartridge into the designated slot within the Filterbaby unit until it clicks into place. Make sure the cartridge is oriented correctly, following the arrow indicators that dictate the flow direction of the water.
Final Testing and Flushing

Once all components are connected, it is time to restore the water supply and check for leaks. Slowly open the under-sink cold water valve, and carefully examine all connections for moisture or drips. If you notice a leak, turn the water back off immediately, tighten the connection, and then test again. After confirming there are no leaks, turn the diverter lever to the "Filter" position and let the water run for two to three minutes. This flushing process clears the carbon dust from the filter media, ensuring your water tastes clean from the very first use.
