TOYOTA CITY, Japan (Feb. 18, 2025) ― Toyota Motor Corporation (Toyota) announced today that it has developed a new fuel cell (FC) system, its third-generation fuel cell system (3rd Gen FC System), as part of its continued efforts toward the realization of a hydrogen society. Toyota hoped to release the Mirai in the five Northeastern States in the first half of 2016, but hydrogen fueling infrastructure was not built in the region.

Toyota committed to provide free hydrogen fueling for the first three years to initial buyers of the Mirai, as Hyundai did for lessees of its Hyundai Tucson. Despite viral claims, Toyota hasn't built a water. Toyota has unveiled a 400 bhp hydrogen engine that burns hydrogen directly, delivering petrol-like performance and zero emissions, underscoring its multi.
