RAV4 Hyrbid as a 1st Car? I am thinking about buying my first car (26 yo M in California) and I love the look and feel of the new RAV4 Hyrbids. Everytime I have taken an Uber in a RAV4, its been roomy, comfortable, and felt luxurious. I will test drive it of course, but from other SUVs and hybrids I have driven, I think Im going to like it.

1st gen Rav4 reliability? I just found this 1997 Rav4 with just under 200k with a pretty solid maintenance history. Anyone know of the general reliability of this model? Any common issues? Can 300,00 miles be expected with decent maintenance? My main concern would be that it's apparently been driven fairly infrequently recently. My Dad's car just died and wasn't worth fixing so we shopped for used Rav4 and CR-V models.

The Carcomplaints site showed many more problems with the older CR-V's, so we eliminated those from our search. We found a 2010 Rav4 AWD with 62K miles for $12,800 from a private party. We offered 10K even and they took it.

Just bought my first Toyota. I always wanted a RAV4. I know it's an 8 year old car and nothing special but it's mine now and I paid cash, so it feels like a achievement.

My first RAV was a 3 door Gen 1 and it was such a unique experience having come from family saloon/sedan cars. A lot of years later I got a Gen 5, having skipped all the other generations and owned lots of other cars, and it's again a great feeling.

When I was employed at a Toyota dealership they came in for servicing with 200,000 miles on the clock. The only disadvantage is they felt like a tin can to drive.
