September 9, 2023 Limehouse Conservation Area (VE-5563)

Today was overcast, a little chilly and a bit of a "get ready, fall is coming" kind of day. Decided to go to Georgetown for an activation in the park.

I would like to go back, and do some hiking, but it was not in the cards for me today as I had some technical difficulties that I wanted to get to the bottom of, and so I was distracted.

On my seventh QSO, my Elecraft microphone shorted-out and continuously was in transmit mode. So I had to quickly change to using the internal microphone for the remaining QSOs. When I opened the mic to find the fault, the insides were a bunch of plastic junk. Not up to the Elecraft tradition. Going to switch to my Heil headset, and either use the Xmit button (annoying), or use VOX (somewhat annoying too).

I still managed to get the 10 QSOs, with two park-to-park, so it was a success, even if clouds were hanging over the activation, figuratively and literally.
