September 1, 2025, Oakville Harbour Historic Site (CA-6319) and Great Lakes Waterfront Trail (CA-6003)

I feared the HF bands were going to go from bad to terrible. The K-index was 3, and A-index of 14 (active), but there were predictions of a storm hitting.

I got the EFRW quite high in the tree on the 3rd attempt and immediately got Bill, VE3MRX, just down the road (HamAlert indicated he had just called CQ, and he was working a station on 40m.

JP, VA3JPI, dropped by from a motorcycle ride and we caught-up a bit.

After getting 14 QSOs, it seemed like that was as good as it was going to get. I did manage to get Jim, WBØRLJ, making it the 50th operator-to-operator contact for me. Still awaiting POTA to generate the award. I also got K9VIC, Eric, operating as club call N9ANA, which was nice as I enjoy his Monday LICW intermediate classes a great deal!

After the activation I took my book and read at a nice Adirondack chair facing Lake Ontario and the Oakville Harbour Lighthouse. Below is a panoramic shot, you can click on it and get a higher-resolution image.

Here's a map of the QSOs. A total of 14 in a little over an hour, so I was glad it was not slower!
