October 19, 2025, Starkey Hill Conservation Area (CA-5607)

Today I drove my daughter to a horse show at 7:00 A.M. As she was not going to ride until the afternoon, this gave me some time to activate this park. Unlike the previous time I went for a lovely hike thereafter. The activation was from the car with a 40m Ham Stick on CW with the KX2.

Before I left I took a picture of the lovely trees early in the morning at Old Orchard Farms Equestrian.

The park is very well-marked and has great signage.

During the 3.75 km hike I came across these stacks of logs, that really looked like teepees.

This is the "summit" of the hike, but the topography was as mild as can be. Without a declaration of being the peak I would not have guessed. I think I might bring my KH1 to this bench next time and spend some time in the woods activating instead of the car. Though finding a good tree that was not directly in the path is difficult.

Here is a map of the QSOs.
