An introduction to the Mental Capacity Act This module is for anyone working within Health and Social Care, who are caring and supporting people over the age of 16, in England and Wales. It will assist you in learning how to support people to make decisions, aid you in identifying when a mental capacity assessment is required and how to carry one out appropriately. You will also briefly explore how 'Best Interests' decisions are made and learn your responsibilities in relation to the Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards. This is an essential 3 year refresher eLearning course to be completed following attendance of the Introduction to The Mental Capacity Act half day workshop. NB: under special circumstances the scheme may agree for this to be completed instead of the half day workshop but not without agreement. E-Learning 45 minutes
Autism-Intermediate 1

The aim of this course is to enable you to gain a better understanding of the Autism Spectrum and to use this knowledge to identify practical strategies that you can use when supporting individual's with Autistic Spectrum Disorder. One day webinar

The aim of this course is to enable you to build on the knowledge and skills you gained on 'Autism - Intermediate 1' and to use this knowledge to identify practical strategies that you can use when supporting individuals with Autistic Spectrum Disorder. One day webinar
Basic Life Support This module is essential for Shared Lives Carers providing a service in, or based from, their own home. It should be refreshed three yearly. It covers basic life support and is suitable for Shared Lives Carers, Domiciliary Care Workers or Personal Assistants and staff new to care working with adults in Adult Care Provider Services or West Sussex County Council employees in either Adult or Children services who work with adults who require basic life support skills. It does not cover child or paediatric first aid. Half day course
Bladder and Bowel - Promoting Continence

Diversity and Inclusion This short video for all staff and explains the key provisions of the Equality Act in relation to Diversity and Inclusion and offers good practice guidance on working effectively with the legislation. E-Learning 12 minutes
Fire Safety Awareness (Foster Carers/Shared Lives Carers) The aim of this half day workshop is for you to feel confident in making fire safety assessments within the home and applying strategies to minimise the risk of fire. Half day workshop
Foundation in Medicines Administration - Shared Lives Carers This online training for Shared Lives carers teaches how to administer medicines in a systematic way to reduce the risk of errors. E-Learning 6 Hours
Food Safety Awareness This online module will introduce you to the importance of food hygiene, food hygiene and associated food hazards, as well as good hygiene practice and controls. E-Learning 40 minutes
Home safety (Electrical, Gas, Water, General Environment) This module is essential for Shared Lives Carers providing a service in, or based from, their own home. It should be refreshed three yearly. It may also be relevant to domiciliary care workers, personal assistants and anyone caring for an individual in their own home. Infection Prevention and Control This course covers basic knowledge of common infections, the risk of infection to vulnerable people in our community, staff responsibilities to prevent the spread of infection and good practice for hand washing procedures. E-Learning

Moving and Handling of Inanimate Objects This module is essential for Shared Lives Carers providing a service in, or based from, their own home. It should be refreshed three yearly. It may also be relevant to domiciliary care workers, personal assistants and anyone caring for an individual in their own home. It will advise you on how to lift inanimate objects safely and look after your back. It will also help you advise those you support on the importance of safe moving and handling E-Learning 15 minutes

Understanding Autism: Exploring Sensory Awareness

The aim of this course is to explore the impact of sensory processing difficulties on people with autism spectrum disorders and offers a method of assessing for sensory differences, including the design of an individual sensory profile.
This is a new form of training: An interactive Skype session, supported by individual work before the session. You will need access to a laptop or Electronic Notebook to attend the webinar. The webinar session will go through the answers to the workbook and give you an opportunity to ask any questions and consolidate your understanding.
