Terms of Use – Ecowitt Weather Station Alexa Skill

1. Acceptance of Terms

By enabling or using the Ecowitt Weather Station Alexa skill ("the Skill"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Use ("Terms"). If you do not agree, please disable the Skill immediately.

These Terms apply in addition to Amazon's own Alexa Terms of Use and Conditions of Use, which also govern your use of Alexa-enabled devices.

2. Description of Service

The Skill provides voice and visual access to live weather data retrieved from your own Ecowitt personal weather station. It is a personal utility tool and is provided free of charge.

The Skill does not provide professional meteorological forecasts, emergency weather warnings, or any data from sources other than your own station. It must not be relied upon for safety-critical decisions.

3. Account Linking and Your Credentials

To use the Skill, you must link it to your Ecowitt account by providing your Ecowitt Application Key, API Key, and station MAC address. You are responsible for:

Ensuring the credentials you enter are valid and belong to you.
Keeping your Ecowitt credentials confidential and secure.
Any activity that occurs through the Skill using your credentials.

If you believe your credentials have been compromised, you should revoke or regenerate them in your Ecowitt account immediately, then re-link the Skill.

4. Acceptable Use

You agree to use the Skill only for its intended personal, non-commercial purpose. You must not:

Attempt to reverse-engineer, decompile, or tamper with the Skill or its backend services.
Use the Skill in any way that could damage, disable, or impair our servers or the Ecowitt API.
Use the Skill for any unlawful purpose or in violation of any applicable laws or regulations.
Attempt to gain unauthorised access to any systems or data associated with the Skill.

5. Privacy

Your use of the Skill is also governed by our Privacy Policy, which is incorporated into these Terms by reference. Please read it carefully to understand what data we collect and how we use it.

6. Third-Party Services

The Skill depends on third-party services that are outside our control:

Ecowitt — weather data is fetched from the Ecowitt API. The accuracy, availability, and timeliness of that data is governed by Ecowitt and your physical hardware. We are not responsible for errors or outages in the Ecowitt service.
Amazon Alexa — the Skill runs within Amazon's Alexa platform. Amazon's terms and policies apply independently of these Terms.

7. Availability and Service Interruptions

We provide the Skill on a best-efforts basis. We do not guarantee that the Skill will be available at all times or free from errors. The Skill may be interrupted, suspended, or discontinued at any time without notice, for example for maintenance, updates, or if the underlying infrastructure changes.

8. Disclaimer of Warranties

      The Skill is provided "as is" and "as available", without
      warranty of any kind, express or implied, including but not limited to warranties of
      merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, or non-infringement.
    

Weather data displayed by the Skill is sourced directly from your personal station and may not be accurate, calibrated, or representative of conditions elsewhere. Do not use it as a substitute for official weather services, particularly for safety-critical decisions such as travel, outdoor activities, or emergency planning.

9. Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, the operator of the Skill shall not be liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages arising out of or in connection with your use of, or inability to use, the Skill — including but not limited to loss of data, loss of profits, or damages resulting from reliance on weather data provided by the Skill.

10. Termination

You may stop using the Skill at any time by disabling it in the Alexa app. Upon disabling, you may request deletion of your stored data as described in the Privacy Policy.

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate access to the Skill for any user who violates these Terms, or for any other reason at our discretion.

11. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. When we do, we will update the effective date at the top of this page. Your continued use of the Skill after any change constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.

12. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of Spain. Any disputes arising under these Terms shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Spain.
