Power on mount and use your mobile device to join the SynScan_xxxx
or SynScanWiFi_xxxxxx
Wi-Fi network (if you are using iOS, please wait about one minute after joining for the first time). Open the SynScan app and tap the Connect button.
Use the 8-way direction buttons at the bottom of app to command the mount to rotate (slew). The number at the center of the buttons indicate the slewing speed.
Point the primary telescope to a fixed target. Identify the object at the center of the eyepiece, and then adjust screws on the finder scope or red dot finder until the reticle or red dot also points to the same object.
Tap the Alignment icon , choose one alignment method, and then select the alignment stars. During alignment, use the 8-way slew buttons to first center the alignment star in the finder scope or the red dot finder, and then in the primary telescope. Tap the confirmation button
when done; note that the app requires the last slewing direction to be up and right before tapping.
It is recommended that you use a planetarium app to help you recognize stars.
Tap the Star or Deep Sky
icon and select an object from the catalogs. Tap Go To to command the mount to point to it.
You can use User Objects
to specify an object not in the app's catalog.
After completing the GOTO for an object, you can center it in the telescope’s eyepiece and then tap
. This is optional, but doing so allows subsequent GOTO for targets near this object to be more accurate.
