It's no surprise, then, that walking through the rows of cars gathered and awaiting the sunrise over the nearby McDowell Mountains is something of a sensory overload. The new racing car for use in the world's most demanding GT series has been under development since July 2012 and is based on the BMW Z4 GT3. In accordance with the regulations of this racing series, the new BMW Z4 GTE competes without electronic driving aids such as ABS and DSC.
In addition, the aerodynamics are adapted to the technical specifications, providing the car with a new underbody. BMW saw the roadster market softening and wasn't sure if it could sell enough to justify replacing the Z4. But sharing could satisfy the spreadsheet.
