Along this trail, you will find many interesting rock formations and winter views. After hiking for a mile, you will reach. For this reason, many people choose to go up the mountain on this trail and come down via the Mountain Trail.

From the West Overlook, you can see the Cumberland Mountains to the north and west, the Ridge and Valley Province, Knoxville, and Sharp's Ridge to the west and south, and the Blue Ridge and Great Smoky Mountains to the south and east. Only 30 minutes from downtown Knoxville, overlooks from the 2,100-foot crest of House Mountain scan the parallel ranges of the Unakas and Cumberlands some 30 miles away. The trails leading to Knox County's highest point are fairly steep through heavily wooded terrain dotted with impressive rock outcrops.

Knoxville is fortunate to have such a rare combination of scenic and ecological values. Explore the House Mountain Loop hiking trail with detailed trail maps, elevation, distance, trail difficulty, and trail photos. This 12 mile out & back trail is a fantastic route to take during the busy traffic months, it is just south of Sedona and a bit of a locals secret! After heading 6 miles up to the top of House Mountain, you will drive right up to an amazing view of the Sedona red rocks from a very unique "back side" perspective, this is one of the few trails in the area that features an incredible 360 degree.

If you want to escape the crowds on Sedona's most popular trails, consider tackling this lengthy run to the summit of House Mountain. House Mountain is a mid-Miocene shield volcano forming part of the skyline to the southwest of Sedona. Rising to a height of 5,131 feet, this is a rugged adventure that strays far from the standard Sedona.

House Mountain was a staple of my childhood recreation, growing up just a couple miles from it's base in Corryton. One note if you are looking up information on it, it is a "state natural area" rather than state park as this post is titled.
