Privacy Policy for SourdoughGuru

Last Updated: 28.9.2026

Gil Leibovitz, doing business as SourdoughGuru ("us", "we", or "our") operates the SourdoughGuru mobile application (the "Service").

This page informs you of our policies regarding the collection, use, and disclosure of personal data when you use our Service and the choices you have associated with that data.

We use your data to provide and improve the Service. By using the Service, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this policy.

Information Collection and Use

We collect several different types of information for various purposes to provide and improve our Service to you.

Types of Data Collected

While using our Service, we may ask you to provide us with certain personally identifiable information ("Personal Data") and collect data about your activity. This may include, but is not limited to:

  • Personal Data: Personally identifiable information, which may include your email address, first name and last name, and User ID.
  • User Content: Information you post to the Service as defined in our Terms of Use. This includes, but is not limited to:
    • Recipes and Baking Data: Information you provide when you create a recipe or log a baking process, such as ingredients, steps, timings, and notes.
    • Public Recipe Data: If you choose to share a recipe, the title, ingredients, hydration, and instructions become publicly accessible via a unique URL. Its photo is also included unless you choose to exclude it when sharing.
    • Public Bake Data: If you choose to share a finished bake, its loaf card becomes publicly accessible via a unique URL: the recipe, its hydration, how long the bake ran, which attempt it was, and the loaf photo if the bake has one. Your display name appears on it only if you turn on "Show my name".
    • Starter Data: Information you log about your sourdough starter, such as feeding times and ratios.
    • Photos: Images you upload, such as photos of your bread for AI analysis, for your personal logs, or to illustrate a recipe. When you share a recipe, its photo is included in the public snapshot unless you choose to exclude it; when you share a bake, its loaf photo is included. Before a photo is published we check it automatically for inappropriate content and remove its hidden metadata, including location.
  • Usage Data: Details of your interactions with the Service, such as feature usage, taps, and crash data.

Public Recipe and Bake Sharing

Our Service allows you to generate a public URL for your recipes and finished bakes. By choosing to share, you acknowledge:

  • Visibility: Anyone with the link can view the shared recipe or bake, including any photo and, if you chose to show it, your display name, on a public web page.
  • Revocation: You can "Stop Sharing" at any time, which immediately deletes the public snapshot from our database and storage.
  • Link previews: When you send a shared link in a chat app or social network, that service may create and keep its own preview image. We cannot remove previews that other services have already stored.

Deep Linking & App Setup

To help you find a shared recipe automatically after you install the app, we use standard store handoff tools:

  • Store Referrer: On Android, we check a one-time "referrer" code provided by the Google Play Store to identify which shared recipe led you to the app. This is used solely to navigate you to the correct recipe on your first launch.

Use of Data

SourdoughGuru uses the collected data for various purposes:

  • To provide, maintain, and improve our Service.
  • To manage your account and your subscriptions.
  • To provide AI-powered features, which may involve sending your anonymized baking data and photos to a third-party AI service for analysis.
  • To personalize your experience.
  • To provide customer support.
  • To monitor the usage of our Service for security and analytical purposes.
  • To communicate with you about your account or our services.
