Bath is a good day trip, but it's small and not much to do beyond first day.

It is beautiful though and has some great pubs. Also might be different now thanks to COVID travel restrictions but it's tourist central during warmer months and very busy. Brighton is more for the nightlife and beach really so whatever you're after.
