SsakView Multimedia 1.7.11 third-party media engine

LibVLC/VLC 3.0.24 by VideoLAN is redistributed unchanged. The engine includes GPL-2.0-or-later and LGPL components; the supplied COPYING and COPYING.LIB apply. python-vlc 3.0.21203 is LGPL-2.1-or-later. The independently running SsakView media worker (pixelview/media_host.py) is GPL-3.0-or-later. These components retain their own licenses.

The media worker talks to the viewer over inherited JSON pipes, not a network server. You may replace the native libraries and rebuild or modify the worker under the applicable licenses.

Source materials (including upstream VLC source, build/contrib recipes, Python binding source, and the worker) are available with equivalent public download access:

Build/run: use Python 3.11 and python-vlc==3.0.21203. Build the unchanged VLC 3.0.24 source for Windows using its contrib recipes and package/win32 instructions. Place libvlc.dll, libvlccore.dll and plugins under worker/resources/media_engine. Run worker/launcher.py with the native playback HWND as its argument. Send one JSON command per stdin line and read JSON state events from stdout. Commands are documented in media_host.py. No credentials or network listener are required.

CPU frame rendering additionally uses Pillow==12.3.0 (MIT-CMU), Win32 GDI and Python ctypes. Pillow source: https://github.com/python-pillow/Pillow/tree/12.3.0 . Its license is included.
