Jesus began his earthly ministry by identifying with sinners (all people) in His baptism. Immediately after He was baptized, Jesus was led by the Spirit to be tempted in the wilderness. During these 40 days Satan tempted Jesus to doubt His identity as the Messiah and place His trust and loyalty in anything other than His heavenly Father.

For a conversation starter: The right side is a worksheet about temptation. Discuss how hungry, weak and probably tired Jesus would have been and how hard it would be to say no to Satan. They can write the 3 temptations and Jesus' answers to Satan.

When you were tempted, was it hard to do the right thing? Say: Today we're going to read from God's Word that Satan tried to tempt Jesus in the wilderness, but Jesus resisted temptation by using God's Word. THE TEMPTING OF JESUS The Holy Spirit led Jesus into the desert to be tempted by the devil. Jesus had been fasting for 40 days and 40 nights so he was hungry. The devil said to Jesus, "If you are the Son of God, tell these stones to become bread.".
