Chat Recap Privacy Policy

Introduction
Chat Recap (“the App”, “we”, “us”, “our”) is an application where users upload chat history files from supported messaging platforms (such as WhatsApp, Messenger, or Instagram) and receive fun, statistical stories and summaries based on those chats.
The analysis happens solely on your device. Chat messages do not leave your phone. We delete the uploaded chat file after the stories are created.
This Privacy Policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, how it is stored, and your rights regarding that data. Please read this Privacy Policy carefully. By using the App, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this Privacy Policy.

Core Privacy Principle
Chat Recap is designed with privacy-first, on-device processing.
- Chat content is processed entirely on your device.
- Chat content is never transmitted to our servers or to third parties.
- Chat content is never stored by us, never logged, never used for training, and never backed up.
- The uploaded chat file is deleted after the stories are generated.
Note: retention behavior for locally stored files may evolve in future versions for user-requested features (e.g., customization). If that happens, we will update this policy and provide notice where appropriate.
Information We Collect
We collect only the information necessary to operate and improve the App.
Chat content (on-device only)
When you upload a chat file, the file and its contents are processed locally on your device to generate stories and statistics. We do not upload, store, or otherwise receive your chat content.
Analytics and diagnostics
We use Firebase Analytics, Firebase Crashlytics, and Firebase Performance Monitoring to collect technical data, including:
- App usage events (numeric/technical usage metrics only)
- Device and operating system information
- App version
- Crash, reliability, and performance diagnostics
Analytics data does not include chat message content, names, phone numbers, or any semantic information from chats.
Notifications
The App may request notification permission to keep users updated (for example, feature updates or app-related reminders). Notification permissions are optional and can be managed through your device settings.
Information We Do Not Collect
We do not collect:
- Chat message content or attachments
- Names, phone numbers, or usernames from chats
- Email addresses or personal contact details
- Payment or billing information
- Sensitive personal data
All payments and subscriptions are handled exclusively by Apple or Google through their respective app stores.
How We Use Information
We use collected information to:
- Generate chat statistics and stories on-device
- Improve App performance, reliability, and user experience
- Diagnose and fix technical issues
- Measure feature usage at a high level
We do not sell, rent, or trade personal data.
Legal Basis for Processing
Depending on your location, we process data based on:
- Performance of a contract (providing the App’s functionality)
- Your consent (using the App and uploading chat files)
- Legitimate interests (analytics, security, and improvements)
Third-Party Services
Chat Recap may use third-party tools and services, including:
- Google Firebase (Analytics, Crashlytics, Performance Monitoring)
- Attribution and marketing measurement services (e.g., Apple Search Ads attribution, Google Ads, Meta Ads, and similar services)
Chat Recap is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by WhatsApp, Meta, Facebook, or Instagram.
Data Retention and Deletion
- The uploaded chat file is deleted after analysis and story generation.
- We do not store chat message content.
- Technical analytics and diagnostics data is retained according to the policies of our service providers (e.g., Firebase) and for legitimate purposes such as stability and security.
Retention practices may evolve as features develop, and this policy will be updated accordingly.
User Rights
For the purposes of the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), we act as the data controller with respect to the data processed through Chat Recap, unless otherwise specified.
We are committed to transparency regarding how information is handled. By using the App, you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agreed to the terms outlined in this Privacy Policy.
Your Rights Under GDPR
If you are located in the European Economic Area (EEA), you have certain rights concerning your personal data under applicable data protection laws, including the GDPR:

Chat Recap processes chat content locally on your device and does not upload or store your chat messages. We may process limited technical analytics and diagnostics data through third-party service providers (such as Firebase) to improve the App.
If you wish to access or delete any data processed through these third-party service providers:
- Contact us at hello@entelechia.co, and we will assist you to the extent permitted by applicable laws and third-party platform policies.
- You may also manage certain data through your device settings or the relevant third-party account settings where applicable.
Please note that certain data may be retained where required for legitimate purposes, such as security, compliance, or resolving technical issues.
Opt-Out Options
Currently, Chat Recap does not provide an in-app option to opt out of analytics, crash reporting, or performance monitoring. These services are used to ensure the App’s stability, performance, and reliability.
However, you may be able to limit certain types of tracking by:
- Adjusting your device’s privacy settings
- Limiting ad tracking
- Resetting your device’s advertising identifiers
Please note that limiting such settings may reduce functionality or accuracy of certain features and attribution mechanisms.

Children’s Privacy
We are committed to protecting the privacy of children.
Chat Recap is not intended for children under the age of 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from children under 13.
- If you are under 13, you must not use the App.
- If you are between the ages of 13 and 17, or under the age of majority in your jurisdiction, you may only use the App with the explicit consent of a parent or legal guardian.
- In the European Economic Area (EEA), if you are under the age of 16, you must have parental or guardian consent to use the App and to provide any personal data.
If we become aware that personal data has been collected from a child without appropriate consent, we will take immediate steps to delete such data.

In-App Purchases and Subscriptions
All payments, subscriptions, and in-app purchases are processed exclusively through the Apple App Store or Google Play Store.
We do not collect, process, or store any billing or payment information. Please refer to Apple’s and Google’s respective privacy policies for details on how payment information is handled.
Updates to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time.
When significant changes are made, we will notify users through the App or other appropriate means. The “Last updated” date at the top of this Privacy Policy will be revised accordingly. We encourage you to review this Privacy Policy periodically.
