PRIVACY POLICY

1. INTRODUCTION

Welcome to Stems Lab ("we," "us," or "our"). We are committed to protecting your privacy and ensuring that your personal information is handled securely and responsibly. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use our mobile application (the "App").

By using the App, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree with this policy, please stop using the App immediately.

2. INFORMATION WE COLLECT

Stems Lab is designed to respect your privacy. We do not collect personal profile data such as your name, address, or contact information for audio processing. We collect only the data necessary to provide audio stem separation and improve app reliability.

Audio Data (Core Service Data):

• Audio content provided by you for processing, including audio extracted from a selected video, an audio file selected from your device, or audio retrieved from a URL you provide.
• We process only the audio portion of selected media files. Video content itself is not processed as video data.

Technical and Analytics Data:

• App interaction events, such as buttons clicked and features used.
• Crash reports and error logs to improve App stability.
• In-app purchase events (processed securely through platform stores).
• Device information, including manufacturer, model, operating system, language, and advertising identifiers (IDFA or GAID).
• Performance metrics such as load times and diagnostics.
• A separate app/user identifier may be logged for product analytics and app improvement through Firebase Analytics.

Permissions:

• Microphone and Storage/Files Access: Required to import, process, and export audio content selected or created by users.
• Internet Access: Required to upload audio for cloud processing, return processed stem results, and run analytics/crash diagnostics.

Service Use and Acceptance: Cloud audio processing is a core function of Stems Lab. By installing, accessing, or using the App, you acknowledge and agree that submitted audio data will be transmitted to our cloud processing provider (Google Cloud) solely to provide the App’s core stem separation functionality. If you do not agree with this processing, you should not use the App.

3. THIRD-PARTY SERVICES

We use trusted third-party services to provide core audio processing and improve reliability. Data shared with third parties is limited to what is required for these purposes.

Examples include:

• Google Cloud (including Google Cloud Storage) – temporary storage and processing of uploaded audio data, and temporary storage of generated stem output before delivery to your device.
• Google Analytics & Firebase Analytics – usage insights and performance tracking using technical/app identifiers and event logs.
• Firebase Crashlytics – crash reporting and diagnostics.

These third-party providers follow their own privacy and security standards. We require that service providers handling data provide appropriate protection measures. We encourage you to review their policies for details.

4. HOW WE USE YOUR INFORMATION

• To provide, operate, and maintain the App.
• To process submitted audio and generate stem separation results.
• To deliver processed stem results back to your device.
• To improve user experience and overall performance.
• To analyze usage patterns and identify bugs or issues.
• To ensure compliance with platform and legal requirements.

5. DISCLOSURE OF YOUR INFORMATION

• Service Providers: Trusted vendors assisting with cloud audio processing, temporary storage for processing workflows, analytics, crash reporting, or app performance monitoring.
• Legal Obligations: When required to comply with a court order, law, or government request.
• No Selling of Data: Stems Lab does not sell, rent, or trade your data with any third party.

6. DATA RETENTION

When you use cloud stem processing features, submitted audio data is uploaded to Google Cloud Storage, processed in our Google Cloud environment, and the resulting stem files are returned to your device. Submitted audio and cloud-stored processing outputs are retained only as long as needed to complete processing and delivery, then deleted from cloud storage.

After delivery, stem results can continue to be stored and used on your device. We do not keep your processed audio content in cloud storage beyond the processing window.

Technical and analytics data collected via third-party analytics tools (e.g., Firebase, Google Analytics) may be retained by those providers according to their respective policies for product improvement and reliability monitoring.

7. USER RIGHTS (GDPR)

If you are located in the European Economic Area (EEA), you are entitled to specific rights regarding your personal data under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR):

• Right to be informed.
• Right of access and rectification.
• Right to erasure (“right to be forgotten”).
• Right to restrict processing and object to data use.
• Right to data portability.

While Stems Lab primarily collects non-personal data, you may still contact us to exercise your rights or request deletion of analytics data. Requests can be sent to appsnightingale@gmail.com.

8. CHILDREN’S PRIVACY

Stems Lab is not intended for use by children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect any data from children. If you are under 13, please do not use the App or provide any personal information.

If you are between 13 and 17 years old, you may only use the App with the consent and supervision of a parent or legal guardian. If we become aware that data has been collected from a minor without consent, we will delete it immediately upon notification.

9. IN-APP PURCHASES

All payments are processed securely through the Apple App Store or Google Play Store. Stems Lab does not collect or store any billing or payment information. Please refer to the respective platform’s privacy policies for more details.

10. UPDATES TO THIS PRIVACY POLICY

We may update this Privacy Policy periodically to reflect changes in our practices or for legal, regulatory, or operational reasons. The updated version will be posted within the App and include a revised “Last Updated” date. Continued use of the App after changes means you accept the revised policy.
