We did it! Thanks to all of our wonderful backers, we have hit both our main goal and our first stretch goal! Gamer Girl & Vixen is going to be published! Once we have the issues printed, we're going to try and make them available to everyone who may have missed the campaign. You can also follow us on Twitter, on Tumblr, and like us on Facebook for future updates.
We're also still running the poll to see which postcards we should have printed and added to our rewards. Keep scrolling down to find our postcard mock-ups and vote for your favorites in the comments section above. We'll tally up the votes and pick the four most popular postcards to send to the printers!
Gamer Girl & Vixen is an LGBT comic about two adorable costumed criminals whose latest crime wave turns to romance. We’re telling a fun and engaging supervillain story with two gay women as the main characters. We believe the world of fiction could benefit from more same sex romance. Comics are for everyone, regardless of age, gender, sexuality, height or favorite vegetable.
The money we raise will be used to produce and print the first two issues of Gamer Girl & Vixen. Each full-color issue will be 24 pages long, and will be available both digitally and in print. The series is co-written by Kristi McDowell (A Planet’s Cry) and Sean Ian Mills (Henchman-4-Hire), with art and coloring by Gemma Moody (Valedictorian USA, Cooney), and lettering by Taylor Esposito (Constantine, New Suicide Squad). Bios below.
Gamer Girl & Vixen is suitable for ages 13 and up. It contains some language and a lot of flirting.
Gamer Girl & Vixen is the story of Bianca Crowley, a closeted young woman who finds the strength to come out by diving into the world of costumed super-crime. Bianca has kept her sexuality a secret for years to avoid the wrath of her domineering mother. Her only outlet for rebellion is stealing, which her father used to do before he was locked up. She's gotten pretty good at felony burglary, and in issue #1, Bianca is planning the biggest heist of her fledgling career.
Everything changes when she meets the out and proud Gamer Girl, a would-be superhero who already has the kick-ass costume and awesome super-powers. Gamer Girl is Liz Jaczynski, an engineering geek who has built a set of gauntlets that produce hardlight hologram weaponry, which she uses to arm herself with everything from Buster Swords to Doomhammers to Blue Shells. Gamer Girl inspires Bianca to create her own costumed identity, and Bianca inspires Gamer Girl to try something a bit more nefarious with her powers. Together, Gamer Girl and Vixen launch a crime wave the likes of which New York has never seen! And everything is fun and shenanigans until real feelings start to make things complicated, as they so often do.

The first two issues of the series tell the story of how the girls meet and begin working together.
Gamer Girl & Vixen #1 introduces us to our main characters as they meet cute during a heist-gone-wrong on the campus of Stowe University in Manhattan, where both girls are students. Bianca the thief runs afoul of campus security, and it's up to Gamer Girl to decide if she wants to help the officers or give the cute redhead a hand.
Gamer Girl & Vixen #2 takes a look at the personal lives of our characters, introducing the rest of our diverse and friendly cast. Bianca is living her mother's idyllic life, with a track star boyfriend and a spot on the school's cheerleading squad, while Liz spends her days talking movies with her best friends, and trying to avoid her clingy girlfriend. Both of them yearn to have some real fun, so they slip away, get in costume and team up for their first major heist.
These two issues are only the start of the Gamer Girl & Vixen story. Like all good writers, we've plotted out an entire saga for our characters, and we hope to keep the story going in the future. We've already written out the first six issues of Gamer Girl & Vixen, and we can't wait for you to see what we have in store.
"It’s refreshing to see a world that has action and intrigue with a positive spin on female representation, the LGBT community, and villains!" -- Mia Faller, Word of the Nerd
"I think that Gamer Girl & Vixen is a fun-loving, slightly silly adventure story that looks to depict a gay relationship in a charming and whimsical way while never forgetting that it’s also about two bad-ass super-villians stealing for the love of the game." -- Jeremy Radick, Nerds Unchained
"Upbeat, lively and relentlessly positive, Gamer Girl & Vixen confidently carves out a niche that has been lacking in the bulk of superhero comics, providing a relatable, well-written story for a sorely underrepresented demographic." -- Craig "Ceej" Neilson, Big Comic Page
Preview of Issue #2:
We chose Kickstarter because it's the best way to get our comic into the hands of the people who want to read it. We're offering both digital and print copies of Gamer Girl & Vixen, and every reward tier comes with at least one comic, so everybody can have something to read. There are also a ton of extra goodies for only a few bucks more. Stickers, prints, behind-the-scenes extras, and original artwork from Gemma Moody can all be yours if you back our comic. You can also star as a supporting character in issue #2 or a future volume.
The Guest Star tiers involve a scene in issue #2 where Gamer Girl spends some time with her friends out of costume. Two of the three spots in this tier have already been claimed. If you pledge at this tier, you or anyone of your choosing will appear on the cheerleader squad alongside Bianca. Anyone can fill the role!
The Create-a-Character tier looks ahead to future volumes of Gamer Girl & Vixen. We’ve got a lot of stories planned, and could use your help to fill those stories with colorful heroes and villains.
We're currently running a vote to see which postcards we will have printed to go along with the rewards. Everyone who pledges $15 and up will receive a personalized 'thank you' written on a Gamer Girl & Vixen postcard, and everyone who pledges $35 and up will receive all four postcards in their goodie bag.
These are the options, drawn by Gemma Moody. We want to pick the best four out of these six. Every backer gets a vote. Choose your favorite and post your vote in the comments section.
We'll add up the votes at the end. The top four postcards with the most votes will be the postcards handed out in the rewards.
As we mentioned above, we have scripted six chapters of a larger Gamer Girl & Vixen graphic novel. This campaign is to print and self-publish the first two chapters as standalone issues. But if we can raise the extra money beyond our goal, enough to pay Gemma and Taylor for their gorgeous work, we want to produce the four additional chapters and give them away to all of our backers at no extra cost!
Printing and shipping comics is expensive though, so these bonus issues will be digital only - but no less awesome!
Everyone who has pledged at least $5 and is already getting issues #1 and #2 will also receive any additional issues we can produce. And since they're digital and won't require a long printing time, they will be delivered as soon as they're finished!

He is currently working on a new batch of creator-owned titles, like Gamer Girl & Vixen, with more to be announced soon.
Most of the money we raise is going towards printing issues #1 and #2 with Print Ninja. We’re printing in bulk overseas to cut down on costs as much as we can. Issue #1 is already complete and ready to to go the printers. We still need to raise money to produce issue #2. The script is written, and we want to pay our art team a fair wage.
The rest of the funds will go to shipping the printed comics to everyone who orders through this Kickstarter, as well as off-setting the cost of the various rewards. We also need to pay the standard 10% fee that goes to Kickstarter.
All of the extra printed comics that don’t get pre-ordered through this Kickstarter will be brought with us to various comic book conventions this year. We hope to hit Baltimore, Boston, New York City and more, so maybe we'll see you there!
Risks and challenges
There are very few risks or challenges ahead of us for Gamer Girl & Vixen. Issue #1 is already complete and ready to be printed. The script for issue #2 is also complete, with Gemma and Taylor standing by to get to work on art and lettering. Print Ninja is an established printing company that has been in business for six years. Gamer Girl & Vixen will get made. We are a dedicated creative team with years of comic book experience between us.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
