The flowers of these plants adhere to strict numerical plans. Monocot flowers almost always have parts in multiples of three—three petals, six stamens, or three sepals. Eudicot flowers, by contrast, are built on a system of four or five, or multiples thereof, such as four sepals, eight petals, or numerous stamens in concentric rings.
