To effectively address rusty water, you must first identify the specific source of the iron. This mineral is naturally present in soil and bedrock, and it can infiltrate your water supply through two primary pathways. Unlike treated city water, which is often filtered at a municipal level, water from private wells is particularly vulnerable to this infiltration because it lacks centralized treatment.
Groundwater Contamination

As water percolates through the earth to reach aquifers, it acts as a solvent, dissolving iron particles from the surrounding rock and soil.
