What does “homecoming day” look like?
Siberians are widely recognised as the only cat breed with scientific evidence showing lower average levels of the Fel d 1 protein, which is the primary allergen affecting most people. While no cat can be considered completely non-allergenic, many individuals with cat sensitivities find Siberians to be significantly more tolerable. Sensitivity varies from person to person, so we always recommend spending time with the breed where possible before committing. Hypo means \"low\" not \"no\" and lower allergens can make all the difference.
Collection takes place from our family home, where kittens are raised. Our aim is for collection to feel calm, unhurried, and supportive — a gentle transition from our home to yours.
You will have the opportunity to meet your kitten in their familiar environment, and see their mother as well. We will take time to talk through care, routine, and any final questions before completing the remaining balance and paperwork.
At what age do kittens leave Autumnvale?
Kittens leave us when they are fully ready, both physically and emotionally, which is typically around 13 weeks of age.
This additional time allows for proper development, socialisation, and confidence-building, giving each kitten the best possible start before joining their new home.
What healthcare do your kittens receive?
All kittens receive appropriate veterinary care prior to leaving, including health checks and preventative support as advised by our veterinary practice, such as regular deworming and two sets of vaccinations.
We prioritise health at every stage — from careful pairing of parents to attentive early development — ensuring each kitten begins life with a strong foundation.
How do you match kittens to families?
At Autumnvale, we do not match kittens based on appearance alone. We take time to observe each kitten’s temperament, energy level, and social tendencies, and work closely with families to ensure a natural and suitable fit. Our goal is to create lasting, harmonious matches that support both the kitten and their future home.
Can I choose a specific colour or gender?
We are happy to note preferences; however, we prioritise health, temperament, and overall suitability above specific characteristics. For this reason, we cannot guarantee colour or gender, but we will always work closely with families to match the kitten best suited to your home.
How are your kittens raised?
All kittens are raised within our home as part of everyday family life. They are gently exposed to adults, young children, dogs, household sounds, handled regularly, and supported through early socialisation. This helps them grow into confident, well-adjusted companions who transition more easily into their new homes.
Will you be available for support after I bring my kitten home?
Yes — our relationship does not end at collection. We are always available for guidance, questions, and support throughout your kitten’s life. Autumnvale families are warmly welcomed to stay in touch.
Do you allow visits before reserving?
Yes. We also aim to provide fortnightly updates, photos, videos, and guidance throughout the process so you feel connected and informed.
Can I visit if I have allergies?
We completely understand that many families exploring Siberians do so because of allergies.
While Siberians are known for producing lower levels of the Fel d 1 protein, we are not able to offer allergy-testing visits in our home. As we also raise dogs, which are not hypoallergenic, the environment would not provide a clear or reliable indication of how you may respond specifically to a Siberian kitten. However, we are happy to provide fur samples posted to your home address for only the cost of postage.
How does the waiting list and deposit work?
Families on our waiting list are the first to hear about upcoming litters and availability. A £650 deposit secures your order within the waitlist. Kitten selection occurs in the order in which deposits are received.
Deposits are 50% refundable (no questions asked), or, if your timing changes, deposits may be transferred in full to a future litter from one year of placing the deposit.
Are your kittens indoor or outdoor cats?
We raise our kittens as indoor companions, where they are safest and most protected. Many Autumnvale families continue to choose to keep their cats fully indoors or provide secure outdoor access such as a garden enclosure or “catio.” We are always happy to guide you on creating a safe and enriching environment that suits your home.
Do kittens need to be neutered?
Yes — kittens are placed as companions and are expected to be neutered (spayed or castrated) by the time they reach 6 months old. This is not done before homecoming day.
This supports long-term health, helps prevent unwanted litters, and contributes to responsible pet ownership. Details will be outlined clearly in your agreement.
Please inquire if you are seeking breeding rights.
Do you offer allergy guarantees?
While many people with sensitivities find Siberians more tolerable, we are not able to guarantee individual allergy outcomes.
While we are always willing to receive our kittens back due to allergy concerns, we are unable to provide a refund of the purchase price. Every person’s response is unique, and we encourage families to approach this thoughtfully.
