a student at the University of Missouri, my advisor, Dr. Covert, encouraged me to write a technical paper for the AIIE Student Technical Paper competition in the Fall of 1964. That paper won first place at both the local MIZZOU chapter and the regional level held at Bradley University in Peoria Illinois. It was then selected for first place at the National level. On October 14, 2011, I was inducted into the University of Missouri, Industrial and Systems Engineering Hall of Fame for my contributions to the field of Quality and Reliability Engineering.
