Jayde Reflects on Mini Camp...
Summer Camps Week #4
My name's Jayde, and I'm delighted to share with you the adventures we've been having at Amberlea Presbyterian Church this summer. As a member of the church and a leader at the camp, it has been an incredibly rewarding experience.

Good morning everyone,

Over the past four weeks, we've had the chance to engage with the children in various fun and educational activities.

Reflecting on Mini Camp

Our fourth week of mini camp recently concluded, and it was packed with excitement and creativity. The theme for the week was "Jesus's BFFs," where we delved into the friendships Jesus had during his time on earth. The children were eager to learn more about the disciples and what it meant to be Jesus's friend.

One particularly fun activity we did was making rainballoon bracelets, jewelry, and necklaces. The children loved expressing their creativity through these crafts. On Friday, we decided to mix things up by making slime, which was a huge hit! Not only did it serve as a craft, but it also felt like a science experiment, blending learning with fun.

What's Next: Olympic Week

Looking ahead, we're gearing up for another exciting theme – Olympic Week! This will be an incredible time filled with cool games, challenges, and team-building exercises. We are enthusiastic about fostering a spirit of camaraderie and teaching the children the importance of teamwork.

Spotlight on Musical Theater Camp

In addition to our mini camp, we are also hosting our third week of musical theater camp. The kids in the musical theater camp have blown us away with their talent and enthusiasm during their showcases. It has been a joy to see their hard work pay off, and we are eagerly anticipating more amazing performances in the coming week.

Seeking Blessings and Prayers

As we embark on these activities, we ask for your blessings and prayers. We hope that this week will run smoothly and that our camps will continue to be a source of joy, learning, and spiritual growth for the children.

A Prayer Together

Before we head downstairs for Kids Zone, where we will talk about how Jesus calls on us to share God's word with others, I'd like to take a moment to pray together.

Dear God,

We ask for all your blessings and guidance as we go through yet another week of camp this summer. We pray that you use us and call on us to do your will and to spread the good news about your love for us. Thank you for all your love and guidance. In your name we pray, Amen.

Thank you for your continued support, and please keep us in your thoughts and prayers as we continue this wonderful journey together.

Warm regards,
Jayde

MEET THE TEAM

Negha: Day Camp Leader

Hello everyone!! My name is Negha and I am entering my second year of Health Sciences at the University of Ottawa. It is my second year back as staff at Amberlea Camp. Something interesting about me is that I love a good starry night. I love going to campsites and looking at the stars! What I am most excited about working this summer at Amberlea is reconnecting with the kids and staff to spread the word of God. When I worked here last year, it was amazing seeing how much kids loved this camp, and how much it made me love it even more. Moreover, as I start my second year at university, I will be studying for an exam that will help me with post-secondary applications, and I would appreciate prayers about that as well as for this camp to go smoothly.

Jayde: Day Camp Counsellor

Hi everyone! My name is Jayde Barnes-Rochester. I am in my second year of university attending the University of Waterloo! There, I’m in the Arts and Business program, where I’ll obtain a BA degree with a background in Business by the end. An interesting fact about me is that I love staying active during my free time! I love working out, moving my body, and going on long walks or hikes in my neighbourhood. I also love learning insightful things and understanding different perspectives from others, and I value learning more things about myself. This summer, I’m very excited to connect with the kids, mentor them, and help them build a foundational relationship with God! I hope that they continue to carry these relationships with them throughout the stages of their lives. I hope they continue to trust in God’s love through their life journey! I also look forward to having fun and making the camp experience worthwhile! I ask that anyone from Amberlea pray that this year’s camp will run smoothly, that we as camp leaders will hold onto our strength to keep the camp afloat, and that God’s word will be heard and accepted within the walls that surround us and the solid ground we walk on. Your blessings are much appreciated!

Krishan: Day Camp Counsellor

Greetings to all, I'm Krishan Thavarajah! A fourth-year student studying business management with a focus on finance at the University of Toronto's Scarborough campus. One interesting thing about me is that I enjoy playing all sorts of sports, even though I'm terrible at golf. I'm thrilled to be a member of the leadership team for Amberlea Mini Camp this summer. I'm looking forward to mentoring and teaching these young people about our Lord and Saviour. Something to pray about is camp going smoothly and full time work after graduating.
