"Advent" refers to the "coming" of Jesus Christ as a baby, 2025 years ago... but there's more... waiting for Christ's promised return to the world, the "Second Coming."
Advent is a time of waiting, expectation and longing. Sometimes when we are buying gifts, making lists, going to special events and preparing special treats, we lose focus on why we celebrate Christmas. Advent provides an opportunity for us to slow down, talk and listen to God who helps us get ready for the coming of the Christ child. Gathering together during Advent can become a special tradition at church and at home.
