Walkathon 2025 DETAILS
Sat, Sep 20th
Walk 5K, 0K, or even 21K... or... do another activity at St Stephen's. We're serving breakfast. Black Creek Health is providing health checks.

Hello everyone! I am thrilled to be volunteering this year alongside Orphtee and Fanella to coordinate this year's Walk-a-thon, one of the major fundraisers for our church.

Each year, this exciting event takes place on a Saturday in September. Mark your calendars for Saturday, September 20th.

Gearing Up: Four Weeks to Go

With only four weeks to go, it's time to gear up! As Orphtee mentioned, keep up your training, and we encourage each and every one of you to participate in the Walk-a-thon. Whether you're a seasoned walker or new to the event, we invite your participation.

Pledge Forms: Get Involved

We have the walkathon forms ready today.

The forms are at the back of the sanctuary, so if you're in need of forms or if there's anything else required, Orphtee, will distribute as needed.

These pledge forms are a great way to engage others, both within and outside of the church community, to support your commitment to walk a 5K, a 10K, or even a 21K—yes, a half marathon! Gather those pledges and make a difference.

Event Day Highlights: Health and Wellness

Thanks to Patricia and Cheryl from the Black Creek Community Health Clinic, we will have the community mobile health unit with us that morning.

This unit is well-known for conducting health assessments on-site, including blood pressure and blood sugar checks. They supported us last year and graciously agreed to return this year, further enhancing our Walk-a-thon.

Even if you're not walking, come down and take advantage of these health assessments.

Fuel Up: Volunteer Opportunities for Breakfast Preparation

In preparation for the big day, we are also organizing a breakfast for all participants.

I'm on the lookout for volunteers to help in providing nourishment for our walkers. It's a fantastic way to contribute to the event!

How You Can Participate

We invite everyone to take part, whether it's by taking a pledge form, gathering pledges from friends, family, and congregation members, or contributing in any other way you can. Your participation, in whatever form it takes, is highly encouraged for this year's Walk-a-thon.

Additional Activities: Fun for All

In addition to walking, you're welcome to ride a bike or participate in other activities we're planning for those who may not be able to sustain a lengthy walk. Stay tuned for more information as we finalize these plans.

Conclusion: See You There!

We can't wait to see all of you ready and excited for the Walk-a-thon. It's a wonderful opportunity to strengthen our community bonds, support a great cause, and enjoy a day filled with activity and camaraderie. Until then, have a great week!

Let's make this Walk-a-thon memorable together! See you on Saturday, September 20th.
