Obviously, Rit dye is used to dye clothes but it's water based. This is an issue because duck canvas (the material) is water resistant. I've also heard that Rita wears out with washing.

I've searched for how to dye this stuff but no search results have to do with dying this particular material. Would something like an oil based dye work better? You might also encounter issues with dye compatibility. Since duck canvas is often made from cotton or a cotton blend, some dyes won't adhere properly.
