Bmw K1200s Clutch Replacement

I was wondering if I should just replace the bearing in my K1200S clutch basket and new friction/driven plate package with Barnetts.

Is there a reason to do the springs and such or is that fix contained in the K1300S clutch package? I'm presently at the 40,000 mile mark, clutch is still good, but when cold I can "feel" it. Yesterday was hot, so hot, and I thought I smelled my clutch in the stop and go traffic. Got me wondering what the "average" lifespan of a clutch is on these bikes, and how hard to replace myself when the time comes.

I own a 2006 K1200GT with about 50k miles. It has become apparent that the clutch plates need to be replaced at a minimum (difficult shifting, finding neutral, etc). Does anyone have experience with Barnett clutches? BMW K1200 (2006-2010) - Barnett Tool & Engineering Significantly cheaper.

I am geting ready to replace my clutch (typical slipping and oil leaking from right side casing joint) and associated parts and wanted to compile a complete list of parts, part numbers, costs and so on that can be posted on the list. I have reviewed much of the archive and this info is kind of. I am hearing a mean rattle from the clutch area.

I inquired about this problem on some public bmw forums and others share the same problem. Apparently the first attempt at a wet clutch has some bugs. I was told to replace the clutch with a newer version ('07 apparently is the revised version) from a reputable tech in Sacramento to fix the problem.

Continuing Clutch Problems After having the clutch replaced (see my previous post) all went well for several hundred miles. Then the lever got soft. Returned to the dealer.

Too much fluid in the system due to a different clutch design of the replacement clutch. Correct level achieved and all was well for a few hundred miles, then the soft clutch lever returned. I had great difficulty shifting.
