A new name, boosted power, and a redesigned interior push Toyota's first EV into the running. Can it save the day? The 2026 Toyota bZ is Toyota's revamped all-electric compact crossover. It was formerly known as the bZ4X, but they dropped the 4X since everyone just called it the bZ anyway.

It now has greater range, more power, and a redesigned interior that are greatly improved. For 2026, Toyota's bZ4X becomes simply the bZ. It's a far better electric SUV than before, with longer range, more power and a less polarizing design.

Toyota restyled the bZ's front fascia and reworked the instrument panel and center console. Depending on the trim, a larger battery pack hikes range to 314 miles, an increase from 252 miles. These new models show that Toyota has dropped its previous EV naming scheme, where each model would have the letter bZ followed by numbers to denote size.

The newly named 2026 Toyota bZ looks to correct the issues that plagued its predecessor, the bZ4X, by adding power and range. Will that be enough to help the Toyota keep up with the competition.
